The median restaurant in Al Souq Al Kabeer and Al Fahidi posts to Instagram 0.55 times a week, according to the Synthopia F&B Index. Meanwhile the Sikka Art Fair crowd, the National Day walkers through Bastakiya and the year-round heritage tourists keep passing your door, and most of them never see a post that tells them you're open.
1,000: US-based small businesses typically pay USD 1,000–2,000 per month in 2026 for a basic social media agency retainer covering 2–3 platforms and 8–12 posts monthly.
41%: 41% of US diners say they have used social media to research which restaurant to visit.
0.55: The median restaurant in Al Souq Al Kabeer - Al Fahidi posts 0.55 times per week on Instagram, from Synthopia F&B Index tracking of 58 local outlets.
60%: 60% of tracked Al Souq Al Kabeer - Al Fahidi outlets have not posted on Instagram in 21+ days.
The Foot Traffic Is Real. The Posting Isn't.
Al Fahidi has some of the densest and most seasonal footfall in Dubai. Heritage tourists wander through most of the year, the Sikka Art Fair floods the lanes for a set window, and National Day sends crowds walking straight past Bastakiya's cafés and restaurants.
Yet according to the Synthopia F&B Index, which tracked 58 local outlets, the median restaurant here posts to Instagram just 0.55 times a week. Worse, 60% of tracked outlets have not posted at all in 21 or more days, again per the Synthopia F&B Index.
That's not a content problem. It's a timing problem. The traffic is seasonal and narrow. The posting, when it happens, is neither.
What Tourists Do Before They Sit Down
A tourist standing near Al Fahidi Fort with two restaurants in view is going to check both on their phone before picking one. According to Tablein, 41% of US diners say they've used social media to research which restaurant to visit.
If your last post is three weeks old, that check works against you. It signals closed, quiet, or not worth the walk in, even when none of that is true. A visitor scrolling through Instagram during Sikka Art Fair or a National Day stroll isn't looking for your brand story. They're looking for proof you're open and worth stopping at right now.
